About me

I was born in czech city Pardubice in 1986. After graduate of Bachelor’s study of Theoretical physics and Astrophysics at Masaryk University in Brno I started to work in Astronomical institute of Academy of Sciences in Ondrejov until 2012. Then I worked in Úpice observatory (until April 2014).

As citizen of a light-polluted Czech Republic, I decided to capture the night skies above the naturally dark places in the world to show people in polluted cities what are they missing (not only) above their heads. Because of that, I took all my life-savings, leaving the Europe in 2014, and traveled in New Zealand to earn much more money by a hard work on orchards to fulfill my dreams. It was worth it and then I could take a long route through the Cook Islands, the Canary Islands, and South Africa. In the end, the route brought me into the heart of the Atacama Desert at ESO’s La Silla and Paranal Observatory in 2015.

Now I am back in the Czech Republic and try to continue in what I’ve learnt in the traveling season. I specialise in photographing rare night-sky phenomena, trying to capture unique moments, which I call “pearls of astronomy”, that add to the immeasurable beauty of a dark starry sky. Something, what I think that everyone should see at some point in their lives. In my free time I would like to travel more, especially for the solar and lunar eclipses. With the photography, my biggest hobbies are also fishing, hiking, drawing or writing. The nature is, of course, my life and amazing inspiration. More you can find also on my general pages. Besides many honor mentions and awards, the greatest honor for me was naming the asteroid 6822 Horálek after me. The discovery of this asteroid was made by Zdena Vávrová in 1986 from Kleť observatory.

In any case (using or buying my photographs, discussions, advices), feel free to contact me. I’ll be happy to answer you as soon as possible!
