La fórmula de Bailey-Borwein te permite calcular cualquier decimal de pi, pero si quieres conocer otro decimal tienes que calcularlo, es decir, no hay decimal del número pi que se sepa y que no haya sido calculado. 		<description><![CDATA[<p>El número pi tiene infinitos decimales pero no hay manera de saber cual es el siguiente al último que se conoce a no ser que se calcule. <br />
Al tener infinitos decimales todas las combinaciones de números están en el número pi, solo hay que buscarlas. Lo malo es que puede ser que determinada secuencia esté entre los decimales aún no calculados o descubiertos.<br />
Por ejemplo, la secuencia de dígitos que forman la fecha de nacimiento de una persona seguro que está en el número pi; o la secuencia 12345678987654321 seguro que también está en el número pi; o también la secuencia de código binario que describe los planos de fabricación de una nave espacial que le pueda llevar al que la descubra al centro de la galaxia (al menos eso fue lo que imaginó Carl Sagan en su novela &#34;Contact&#34;). <br />

&#34;Why did you do this ?<br />
I am not especially interested in the digits of Pi, but in the various algorithms involved to do arbitrary-precision arithmetic. Optimizing these algorithms to get good performance is a difficult programming challenge.<br />
<br />
Arbitrary-precision arithmetic with huge numbers has little practical use, but some of the involved algorithms are interesting to do other things. In particular:<br />
<br />
    * The Discrete Fourier Transform. This transform is widely used in many algorithms and most modern electronic appliances (such as digital televisions, cell phones and music players) include at least one instance of it.<br />
    * The reliable managing of a very large amount of disk storage, at least for a single computer. Specific methods were developed to ensure high reliability and high disk I/O bandwidth. The same ideas can be applied to other fields such as video streaming or data base access.<br />
    * The whole computation is an extensive test for a computer including its CPU, RAM, disk storage and cooling system. A single bit error during the computation gives a bad result. De lo que trata el experimento es de desarrollar técnicas, atajos si se quiere, para triturar números de la forma más rápida posible y sin errores, aprovechando al máximo posible componentes que cualquiera puede comprar. ¿Cuál es la utilidad de triturar números más deprisa con componentes más baratos? pues muchas. Por lo que entiendo puedes saber cualquier decimal de Pi simplemente aplicando la fórmula enlazada en la wikipedia. Entiendo que esto quita cualquier interés en calcular un número astronómico de decimales al poder conocer cualquiera de forma concreta y con un tiempo de cálculo despreciable.<br />

El cálculo le llevo 103 días, me imagino que en el desarrollo del programa de cálculo haría numerosas pruebas, estoy convencido de que en alguna intentona tuvo el programa corriendo durante días y este petó. Luego a ver el motivo del fallo arreglarlo y volver a correr el programa, posiblemente otro error, etc. etc.<br />
