#1 Thompson fue guionista de las dos primeras pelis de Kubrik (Atraco Perfecto y Senderos de Gloria), entre otros muchos proyectos cinematograficos con Redford, mcQueen, Peckinpah, etc.. Es un escritor tal vez poco conocido ... relativamente ... su obra lleva décadas publicada en muchos idiomas, incluyendo el castellano y vivió de ella muchos años. Mas que maldito "outsider" era un alcohólico tirando a "insider".

Entre otras cosas, porque Quentin Tarantino estuvo cerca de matarla por poner por encima, y de manera totalmente innecesaria, su seguridad personal para rodar una escena con un coche que era un desastre, cuando ella confiaba él...

Medio cherokee, su padre fue un sheriff corrupto que acabó huyendo a México (no fue muy lejos a buscar a alguno de sus personajes). Nunca terminó de estudiar, tuvo los trabajos más diversos, con épocas de alcoholismo salvaje, y sobrevivió a la pobreza durante la Gran Depresión de 1929. Fue comunista y padeció la Caza de Brujas del senador McCarthy. No publicó su primera novela hasta los 39 años (escribió 29 obras) y nunca llegó a un autor de masas en vida. No sé si es a través de Tarantino la mejor forma de llegar a Thompson, seguro que no, pero bienvenido sea.
