A Belair Airbus A320-200 on behalf and in colors of Air Berlin, registration HB-IOS performing flight AB-7655 from Valencia,SP to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) with about 150 passengers, stopped climb out of Valencia at FL180. While the airplane was on approach to Palma Mallorca about 15 minutes before touch down the airport began to prepare for an emergency arrival due to cabin pressurization problems, emergency services dispatched a number of ambulances to the airport. The airplane landed safely on Mallorca's runway 24L at approximately 18:55L (16:55Z) about 40 minutes after departure from Valencia. Emergency services administered oxygen to two flight attendants.
Air Berlin said, it wasn't an emergency landing, landing was quite normal, two flight attendants began to feel unwell a few minutes prior to landing. Air Berlin later added, that there were cabin pressure problems indeed, the cause of the intoxication of the two flight attendants, who were working in the rear galley, is unknown at this time. The airplane is to be ferried to Zurich (Belair's home base) for further examination.
The airport reported, that the flight crew had donned their oxygen masks and reported cabin pressure problems as well as possible fumes in the cabin causing a number of people to feel unwell. Two flight attendants needed medical assistance after landing.
