Algunas aplicaciones de Windows sobrescriben el contenido del disco duro entre el MBR y la primera partición, especificamente en la imagen de núcleo de GRUB 2 haciendo que el sistema no arranque.

En resumen: Tenemos varias suites de "recuperación" que forman parte del cacaware que te meten los fabricantes en sus ordenadores por defecto. Por si no fuera ya de por si un ejemplo de mala programación que esos servicios se inicien por defecto junto con el sistema sin haberlos configurado ni usado para nada (o sea, que se inician para nada), resulta que cada vez que lo hacen pierden el tiempo en cosas tan creativas como escribir el MBR. Nadie les ha configurado para hacer copias de seguridad del MBR, ni nadie les ha dicho que ese MBR de Grub sea síntoma de algo malo (si Windows se ha iniciado y ha llegado arrancar el propio programa de recuperación, exactamente dónde está el problema a corregir en el MBR?). Luego la gente se queja de que windows tarda en iniciarse.
Luego tenemos antivirus intelijentes que se dedican a borrar cargadores de inicio. Aunque el antivirus no tiene absoltutamente ninguna prueba de que Grub2 sea un virus, actua por precaución y se lo carga. Otro gran ejemplo de programación
Luego tenemos software como Photoshop o Autocad, que almacenan datos o algún tipo de firmas de su sistema de licencias en el MBR. Olé sus huevos. Precisamente ese es el tipo de software POFESIONAL que dicen que falta en Linux. Quien sabe, igual si Adobe no porta Photoshop a Linux es por no ofrecer facilidades para escribir a MBR de una manera genérica y estandarizada.
Nunca, jamás en mi vida volveré al infierno de Windows, ni aunque me azoten con látigos...
